BIBA for SALE
Original British fashion history for sale!
When world-renowned fashion collector and aficionado Pari sold her portfolio of Ossie Clark dresses, stars like Sandra Bullock, Kirsty Alley, Courtney Love and Nicole Kidman flocked to Los Angeles to get a piece of the action.
So with Pari making available her even more coveted collection of Biba styles this autumn, a genuine media storm is confidently forecast.
Biba is the style that helped define London in the swinging 60s and 70s, with a look and attitude that swept the globe. Drawing on Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Victoriana and the golden age of Hollywood, it was more than just fashion: Biba was a lifestyle choice.
At its flagship Kensington store, icons of the age - like Mick Jagger, Racquel Welch and David Bowie - shopped, while rubbing shoulders with their fans. Archly democratic, Biba always priced its clothes so ‘ordinary’ people could afford them, boosting the brand’s credibility still further.
Now Biba is about to be revived with a new ready-to-wear and accessories range hitting stores this September, and a debut at London Fashion Week. Pari played a key role, alongside high-profile designer Bella Freud, in ensuring the new pieces retain the label’s authentic glamour and desirability.
Pari is the authority on all things Biba. She acquired a taste for decadent style while frequenting her aunt’s Berlin strip club, and during the 80s and 90s ran a coveted stall in London’s bohemian Camden Market. The Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Daily Mail are some of the titles to have featured Pari, who has also illuminated many a TV show.
