British Red Cross
With a little help from GBMI, this charity’s Royal Gala Ball 2006 was even more successful – while providing two of our clients with priceless access to celebrities and leading businessmen & women.

July’s ‘A Celebration of Humanity’ was held at London’s magnificent Mansion House. Her Majesty the Queen is the British Red Cross’s patron, with high-profile guests including the Rt. Hon Lord Mayor of London, David Brewer, CMG.

In co-operation with Hamburg based bespoke perfume & cosmetics creator Home of Fragrance GmbH, a consignment of premium Anti-Ageing Oil was donated for the event.

Likewise, Hadi Teherani, the creative body of Hamburg based BRT Architects partnership, approved the donation of his own-brand Lounge Music Vol1 CD for the ball’s goodie bags.

Both contributions were acknowledged in the celebration’s souvenir catalogue. And with our two clients now brought to the attention of London’s movers and shakers, who knows where it will lead?

Tenneh & Hope and Homes for Children & Geo Bear

When a globetrotting Teddy Bear came to GBMI’s attention, the outcome was increased media coverage for an orphans charity and the children it helps save in war-torn Sierra Leone.

As part of a geography assignment, a US school sent the cuddly toy, Geo, on a mystery tour round the world. Fixed to his wrist was a note asking airport travellers to fill in a logbook in his rucksack and send a postcard back to the students saying where he’d been.

Reading about Geo, GBMI’s Sonja Goihl fell in love with his furry features – and his publicity potential – and soon hooked up with him. Together they journeyed across Europe, America and Africa, attending fashion shows and meetings with famous authors on behalf of GBMI’s clients. TV couldn’t get enough of them.

Most positively, Geo was pictured in the arms of Tenneh Cole, a young girl from Sierra Leone flown to Britain for surgery to remove a bullet lodged behind her eye. His comforting features helped win extensive coverage for the Wiltshire-based charity Hope and Homes for Children that brought Tenneh to the UK.

Sonja says, “We thought Geo could be symbol of hope for Tenneh. He is quite a celebrity.”

Hope and Homes for Children is a registered charity working in East Europe and Africa countries to give hope to these regions’ poorest youngsters. Its vision: a world where every child feels loved.
